Day 4 - Bourg d'Oisans to Echirolles

After enjoying the majestic splendour of the Alpes, it is time to head for the Loire.  The plan for the day is an easy cycle back down the valley to the outskirts of Grenoble to pick up a rental car.  The cycling part of the day was literally all down hill so we were able to manage the 45 km in under 2 hours at an average speed nudging 24 km/hr fully loaded.  Which was a good thing because we still had about 6 hours of driving ahead of us to get to Blois where we pick up our next cycling leg.

Stay and Eat

We stopped in at Beaune for a lunch break and were disappointed to not have more time to explore the medieval walled city at its heart.

The Hotel Le Monarque is quite nice with the Tin Tin theme managed well without descending to kitschy.  They have dedicated secure bike parking at the rear of the hotel.  We enjoyed an excellent meal in the hotel restaurant.  If we'd had more time in Blois, the location would have lent itself well to sightseeing downtown.
