Day 5 - Blois to Amboise
Rolling down the hill through cobbled streets and shops starting to open we get our first sight of the Loire River. Today marks the start of 5 days following the river as far as Angers. It's a longer day in the saddle at just under 80 kms, but after the terrain of the Alps, it is a blessedly flat day.
Route

Stay and Eat
We made a quick bakery stop at Candé-sur-Beuvron for lunch. Let's face it, it's hard to get a bad baguette in France and House Boulay Parisse did not disappoint. The provided tables and chairs were handy for an alfresco enjoyment of our bakery treats.
Hotel la Breche was more than adequate for an overnight stay in Amboise.
See and Do
The planned sightseeing stops for the day are Château Chambord and Château de Beauregard. We chose not to go inside Chambord and contented ourselves with wandering around the grounds and absorbing the sheer scale of this building. Knowing that it was never occupied, nor completely furnished, it didn't seem worth the time or cost of entry. Chambord took us away from our bed for the night, and by the time we got to Château de Beauregard, we were conscious the day was getting away from us, so opted to push on and head for Amboise missing out on the gallery of portraits.
